Sounds sensational!

Year 1 have been looking closely at Kandinsky's abstract paintings of music compositions. Year 1 discussed how abstract means your picture does not have to look like real life and how abstract art is often an experiment with colours and techniques.
Wassily Kandinsky loved art and loved music. The artist combined his two loves together by creating artworks about music!
To start the lesson, Year 1 looked. Looked at Kandinsky's colours, shapes, symbols, repeated patterns.
Next, Year 1 listened. Students listened to Pachelbel's Canon in D Major.
With pastels, the students used happy colours (red, orange, yellow and pink) or sad colours 
(blue, green, purple, grey) depending on how the music made them feel.
Students added different shapes and symbols for the different instruments they heard. 
Finally, Year 1 students used watercolour paints to add final details to their artwork.
