Pop Art Portraits

After Year 6 did their Grid Self Portraits, we went back to our original photocopied photo, the one we traced with black marker.
I let the kids go crazy with coloured markers, which they were very excited about after just using only black for the past few weeks! On the Interactive Whiteboard we looked at the American artist Shepard Fairey, the artist responsible for Obama's HOPE poster. The students were encouraged NOT to use realistic colours.

Finally we cut around the photo, and glued it onto a bright piece of coloured cardboard. Easy and lots of fun!

They look fantastic hanging up altogether.
