The Great Wave

Year 4 have created artworks in the style of Hokusai's "The Great Wave."
The students drew the wave with black markers, then used blue watercolour paints (Cool colours) to the water.

Next the students painted their sky, mountain and any boats using orange and brown watercolours (warm colours).
Finally, Year 4 used white acrylic paint to paint foam and sea spray.
As a challenge activity when finished, some students signed their name in Japanese in the top left corner.
They look absolutely fantastic! Well done Year 4!

ROBOTS

Year 5 have designed Robots in art as they have been building robotics in their ICT and Science lessons.
The students started by looking at artworks and illustrations of robots and observing how the artists made the images look 3D using shadow and highlights, as well as foreground and backgrounds.
Year 5 used a variety of materials including acrylic paint, watercolours and black markers.

Surf-scapes

Year 6 have been looking at the work of Hawaiian surf artist Heather Brown. Her colourful artworks have a cartoon like quality due to the black outlines and patterns.

As Year 6 recently completed a Surf Education Course, so they did their own Surf-scapes in the style of Heather Brown. Year 6 did a great job. A summer inspired artwork is the perfect thing before the holidays!

Dots

Kindergarten have been learning about Dot painting in art, from traditional Aboriginal painting, Pointillism and Pop Art. We read the book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds and watched the animation on YouTube.

Kindy have been doing their own dot pictures using a lot of bright colours, including primary and secondary colours, and using different materials to make dots.

Kindy also painted the negative space of a dot with watercolours. We used paper plates to leave the dot area white.
